Your child's game progress stays on their device, not on our servers. We only ask for your email if you choose to take the Future-Ready Check or join the waiting list, and we only use it to send you what you asked for. We never sell your data or use it for advertising. You can be removed at any time by emailing us.
Captain Cleo is a learning-games service operated by Eternal Raine Ltd (registered in England and Wales, company number 16505815). We are the data controller for the information described here. You can reach us any time at hello@captaincleo.com.
Captain Cleo is designed to be used by a parent or guardian together with their child. The details we collect belong to you, the adult, not to your child.
The games and the Future-Ready Check may invite you, or your child, to type a first name so Cleo can personalise things. That name is stored only in the browser on your own device. It is never transmitted to us and we cannot see it. Clearing your browser data removes it.
We never ask for a child's photograph, date of birth, school or contact details. The only child-related detail we ever receive is a broad age band (such as "7 to 9") that you choose in the check. We follow the principles of the UK Information Commissioner's Age Appropriate Design Code (the Children's Code). When we later introduce family accounts, any child profiles will be first-name-only, and we will update this policy before that launches.
We use a small number of trusted service providers who process data on our behalf, under contract:
We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with advertisers.
Some of our providers, such as Google, are based in the United States. Where data is transferred outside the UK, it is protected by appropriate safeguards recognised under UK data protection law (such as the International Data Transfer Agreement or equivalent standard clauses).
We keep your waiting-list details until you ask to be removed or unsubscribe, after which we delete them. We do not keep information for longer than we need it.
Under UK data protection law you have the right to access the information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to or restrict its use, to receive a copy of it, and to withdraw consent at any time. To exercise any of these, email hello@captaincleo.com and we will respond promptly. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
We use the minimum storage needed to make the site and games work on your device. We do not use third-party advertising cookies or cross-site trackers.
If we change how we handle your data, we will update this page and the date at the top. When we launch accounts and payments, we will publish an expanded version covering that.
